Foreign Affairs Review, No.2, 2007

Abstract

The most important challenge of terrorist attack of Sep.11, 2001 for U .S. is to identify the enemy of U .S. To construct an enemy includes two dimensions, abstraction and dehumanization of the enemy, and personification of the nation. This paper observes the construction of America's enemy post-9/11, and concludes that this effort has its success and failure. Its success of constructing the evil enemy and good self is of short-term . Because of the particularity of terrorism , America mustem body and enlarge the enemy, which deems its long-term failure.
