Fudan Journal, No.1, 2007

Abstract

In the past several years , there emerged a new landscape in Sino-U.S. economic and trade relations featured by regular disputes, the growing impact of security factors on U.S. economic and trade policy for China, and the rising symmetry in interdependence between the two countries. As a result, economic and trade ties will continue to shore up overall bilateral relations, but they also stand as a major source of disputes in bilateral ties.Meanwhile, the growing symmetry in interdependence between the two sides will enhance China's position in bilateral interactions and constrain Washingtonps ability to use economic leverage to promote its political and security agenda in relations with China.
