Abstract
Western Europe is the cradle ofmanymodern political thoughts, and also the birth place of modern terrorism. After the end of the Cold War, the terrorism that threatened Western Europe mitigated as a whole because ideological and ethnic conflicts had been deviated and relaxed. But on the other hand, anarchism, environmentalism, anti-globalization movement have become new roots of terrorism. Nevertheless, since“9·11”, especially after the launching of Afghanistan and Iraq wars,religious extremism has become the major challenge to Western Europe, and terrorism in Western Europe is closely linked to and interacted with international relations.
