Identity and Foreign Policy Making: A Constructive Perspective on U.S.-Taiwan Relations

Abstract

According to the theory of constructivism, identity consciousness among states has a p rofound influence upon policy making. In this paper, the authors try to explore the“identity dip lomacy”of Taiwan toward the United States, and the development of“identity identification”on the part of the United States toward Taiwan, so as to examine and analyze the significance and influence of identity in U.S.-Taiwan relations.
