The Ideology of Progress in Western International Relations Theories

Abstract

Since the Enlightenment , progress as an ideal has been stepped into the study of human science , including international relations. The end of cold war proved that the western international relations theories had failed to pursuit progress. But the idea of progress has been become a tool of legitimacy ; to legitimate the international relations as a discipline and western domination of the theory. Therefore , the international relations theory with Chinese character is under great pressure.
