The Traditions and Transformations of Modern International Relations

Abstract

From it s very beginning , modern international relations have followed three traditions: individualism, nationstate, and progressivism or scientism. The three traditions have always been playing very important roles in systemic stability and durability in international relations. With material and conceptual changes , these t raditionsare facing challenges f rom various sides; the“grand t ransformation”of international society is approaching.
