Fudan American Review , Vol. 27, No.2, 2018

【Abstract】 Since the establishment of diplomatic relations 40 years ago, Sino-U.S. economic and trade relations have developed rapidly. Sino-U.S. economic and trade relations play an active role in strategic stability in China-U.S. relations in general, helping China and the United States to overcome contradictions and differences in the political and security fields and promote the overall development of Sino-U.S. relations. With President Trump’s appointment as President of the United States, due to the personality of President Trump and the structural factors, the friction between China and the United States in the economic and trade field has increased, even rising to the “trade war” degree. The increase in the “strategic conflict” between China and the United States is not only a serious challenge to Sino-U.S. economic and trade relations, but also a serious threat to the healthy development of Sino-U.S. bilateral relations. Both China and the U.S. must continue to build mutually beneficial and win-win Sino-U.S. economic and trade relations through strength, system, cooperation and interests, and expand the depth of Sino-U.S. economic and trade interests so as to better safeguard the overall stable Sino-U.S. relations.

【Key Words】 strategic stability, strategic conflict, the establishment of Sino-U.S. diplomatic relations
