Abstract:Isolationism is an important part of American ideology. When the international and domestic situation is relatively unfavorable, the US isolationism will be prevalent. The wave of American isolationism, marked by Trump winning of the presidential election, has its profound background, reflecting the new changes in domestic US and in the relations between the US and the world. The resurgence of American isolationism will bring about changes in the future of globalization, including the driving force of globalization, ideas, and the distribution of interests. However, based on the multiple constraints of the US domestic system and the bilateral and international level, the American isolationism and the pessimistic attitude of the Trump government toward globalization have limited negative impact on globalization and should not be overstated.
