Abstract
The year of 2013 witnessed significant developments in the forging of a new model of major power relations between China and the U.S. Presidents Xi and Obama agreed on advancing the goal of bilateral relationship; their meeting in Califonia produced important and positive impact; the area of cooperation between two countries expanded. While problems ad frictions existed, Beijing and Washington handled them in a non-antagonistic way. To further the process of building a new model of major power relations, China should advocate for creative thinking and actions in bilateral interactions in the Asia-Pacific, put forward its vision of the region, try to work out shared rules of the game, and establish some pilot programs in forging a new model of major power relations.
