Abstract

The TPP initiative advocated by USA has received favorable responses from Taiwan administration． In order to contain China-led East Asian economic integration process and its expansion of export to Taiwan， the United States has expressed its support for Taiwan to join TPP． On the other hand，Taiwan is trying actively to take part in TPP so as to explore “international economic space”， improve US-Taiwan essential relations and decrease its economic independence upon the mainland． However， constrained by the reality of Cross-Strait relations， the context of US-China interaction and the low degree of economic liberalization，Taiwan's participation in the TPP must be a very difficult mission．
