Abstract
The paper describes how the third generation of the CCP collective leadership with Jiang Zeming as its core, under the new situation, inherited and developed the strategic thinking of Mao Zedong and Deng Xiaoping and their policies toward the USA, and how they successfully dealt with those obstacles and conflicts between the two sides over the issues of human rights, security, Taiwan and intellectual property rights, etc. Firmly and maturely overcoming several grave crises which occurred in 1990`s, Jiang Zeming and the Chinese Government brought Sino-U.S. relations to a new phase of development, and thus made great historical contributions to the building-up of China`s new diplomacy.
