On the morning of 3rd March, 2008, three scholars from the well-known conservative American think tank Heritage Foundation visited the CAS: Walter Lohman, Director of the Foundation's Asian Studies Center, Harvey Feldman,Distinguished Fellow in China Policy and a former US Ambassador, and John Tkacik, Senior Research Fellow, Asian Studies Center.

Prof. Shen Dingli, Director of the CAS, and Prof. Xin Qiang, Assistant Director of the CAS, received the guests, and then led a thorough two-way discussion revolving around various hot issues related to current Sino-U.S. policy, including the growth of China, American strategy towards China, and the Taiwan issue.
