On December 1-5, 2019, commissioned by Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of the People's Republic of China, the delegation comprising experts and academics led by Professor WU Xinbo, Director of the Center for American Studies and Dean of the Institute of International Studies at Fudan University teamed up to visit Washington and Philadelphia in the United States, convening the outreach for extensive and in-depth dialogues on the status quo of American politics, economy and China-U.S. bilateral relationship with U.S. Federal government agencies and departments, think tanks, chambers of commerce, press circles and universities, together in attendance with Deputy Director XIN Qiang, Deputy Director SONG Guoyou of the Center for American Studies at Fudan University and the delegate from the Department of North American and Oceanian Affairs, MFA of the Chinese Foreign Ministry present at the mission.
In Washington, the appointed delegates embarked on visiting National Security Council(NSC) of The White House,U.S. Department of State, Eurasia Group, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, U.S.-China Business Council successively, proceeding towards the Chinese Embassy in the United States of America for advancing communication in the course of routine work with Ambassador CUI Tiankai and Envoy LI Kexin.
In Philadelphia, the delegation members undertook visits to General Office of The Philadelphia Inquirer for outlook on local political configuration and University of Pennsylvania subsequently to exchange insightful perspectives concerning American politics and Sino-U.S. relations with academics at UPenn.
The Institute of International Studies at Fudan University, accredited as one of the Key Cooperation Institutes for Policy Studies granted by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, committed to undertaking overseas visits designated by the Department of Policy Planning, the Department of Asian Affairs and the Department of North American and Oceanian Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China for consecutive years, has constituted enormous contributions in the realm of diplomatic policy-making and consultancy.
