Prof. Wu Xinbo Leads Ministry of Foreign Affairs Expert Delegation to the U.S.

From June 7 to 15, 2024, Professor Wu Xinbo led an expert delegation from Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Washington D.C. and New York. The purpose of the visit was to investigate the political and economic landscape of the U.S. during 2024, an election year, and to explore China-U.S. relations. The delegation included Associate Professor Wang Hao from the Center for American Studies at Fudan University and First Secretary Chen Zhisong from Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In Washington D.C., the delegation visited several institutes, including the Center for Naval Analyses, the Brookings Institution, the Center for Strategic and International Studies, the US-China Business Council, J.P. Morgan, the Quincy Institute, the Office of China Coordination of the U.S. State Department, and the U.S. House of Representatives. The Asia Foundation hosted a luncheon for the delegation, attended by over ten experts and scholars from the Brookings Institution, the Center for Strategic and International Studies, the Wilson Center's Kissinger Institute, and George Washington University. Professor Wu Xinbo engaged in candid and in-depth discussions with the American participants on China's foreign policy and China-U.S. relations. Chinese Ambassador to the U.S., Xie Feng, and Minister Jing Quan also had exchanges with the delegation.

In New York, the delegation visited The Wall Street Journal, holding talks with journalists and editors responsible for China coverage. They attended a luncheon hosted by the National Committee on American Foreign Policy and visited the Asia Society Policy Institute. The Chinese Consul General in New York, Huang Ping, also had exchanges with the delegation.
