The Asia Foundation and the Center Co-hosted the Seminar on "America’s Role in Asia"

   February 14, 2009: The Asia Foundation and the Center Co-hosted the Seminar on "America’s Role in Asia". Deputy Director of the Center, Professor Wu Xinbo was the chair. Former U.S. ambassador to China J. Stapleton Roy, Country Representative in China of the Asia Foundation Dr. Jonathan R. Stromseth, Director of the International Relations Program of the Asia Foundation John Brandon, President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, Deputy Consul General of the U.S. Consulate General in Shanghai Simon Schuchat attended the seminar among experts and scholars from various Shanghai institutes, students from several universities and journalists from leading newspapers.

   During the conference, representatives from the Asia Foundation gave brief introductions about the Foundation and its projects. Ambassador Roy delivered an insightful keynote speech on U.S.-Asian relations. And Professor Wu Xinbo made very perceptive comments concerning U.S.-Asian and U.S.-China relations as well as the prospects in the new U.S. administration.
