On December 8-9, 2017, the 10th Seminar on American Strategic Trends and China-U.S. Relations was held at Conference Room 104 of Center for American Studies, Fudan University. Over 20 scholars and experts from Institute of American Studies, China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations, Institute of American Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, The International Economics and Finance Institute Affiliated to Ministry of Finance of the People's Republic of China, Renmin University of China, University of International Relations, Shanghai Institutes for International Studies, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences and Fudan University attended the event.
Professor Wu Xinbo, Dean of The Institute of International Studies, Fudan University and Director, Center for American Studies, Fudan University presided over the opening ceremony and addressed the welcome speech to all the attendees present at the seminar. Mr. Yang Jiemian(Director of the Academic Committee, Shanghai Institutes for International Studies), Mr. Zhou Qiangwu(Director of The International Economics and Finance Institute Affiliated to the Ministry of Finance of China), Mr. Huang Renwei(Director of the Academic Committee of High-end Think Tanks, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences and Executive Vice Dean of Fudan Institute of Belt and Road & Global Governance) attended the seminar and delivered keynote speeches respectively.
In the perspectives of economy, trade, finance, politics, history and society, the scholars and experts who were present at the seminar made extensive and in-depth exchanges centering on such issues as Trump’s visit to China in 2017 & Sino-U.S. Relations, the domestic political and economic tendencies & the review of diplomatic security strategies of Donald Trump-led administration in the U.S., and the prospect of Sino-U.S. relations. The faculty members and students from Fudan University, Tongji University, Shanghai International Studies University, Shanghai Institutes for International Studies and Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences participated in the seminar, presented the reflections and interacted actively with the researchers.
The Seminar on American Strategic Trends and China-U.S. Relations is one of the top-grade annually-held academic events, initiated by Center for American Studies, Fudan University and Collaborative Innovation Center for New Model of China-U.S. Major-Country Relationship. Since 2008, the seminars have been held with great successes for ten consecutive years, serving as a vital platform for the academic experts and scholars who research on American studies at the prestigious institutes of higher learning and research institutions nationwide to conduct broad academic exchanges and cooperation in the field of the dynamic trends of American strategies and China-U.S. relations.
