The 15th Symposium on American Strategic Orientations and China-U.S. Relations

On July 18, 2025, the Center for American Studies at Fudan University (CAS Fudan) successfully hosted the 15th Symposium on American Strategic Orientations and China-U.S. Relations. Nearly 20 distinguished experts and scholars from the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Peking University, Renmin University of China, Wuhan University, the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies, and Fudan University took part in the symposium. The symposium was opened and chaired by Professor Wu Xinbo, Dean of the Institute of International Studies and Director of the CAS Fudan.

The symposium centered on three major themes: “Domestic Trends under Trump 2.0,” “U.S. Foreign Policy and Its Global Impacts under Trump 2.0,” and “Trump 2.0 and the Future of China–U.S. Relations.” Participants examined recent developments in U.S. domestic politics and the economy following Trump’s return to office, analyzed the evolving trajectory of U.S. foreign strategy from diverse perspectives, and assessed the current state and future prospects of China–U.S. relations at both strategic and tactical levels. The symposium featured insightful presentations, lively discussions, and in-depth exchanges.

As an annual academic initiative organized by the Center for American Studies at Fudan University, the symposium on American Strategic Orientations and China-U.S. Relations has been held for fifteen consecutive years since its inception in 2006. It has become a prominent platform for Chinese scholars and experts to exchange views on the strategic direction of U.S. policy and the evolving dynamics of China–U.S. relations.
