From March 22 to 23, 2025, the Second Jimmy Carter Forum on U.S.-China Relations (Hangzhou) was successfully held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. Co-hosted by the Center for American Studies at Fudan University (CAS Fudan) and the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), the forum aimed to further advance academic and people-to-people exchanges between China and the United States.
The opening ceremony featured remarks by Lu Shan, Vice Governor of Zhejiang Province; Shen Xin, Vice President of the CPAFFC; Paige Alexander, CEO of The Carter Center; and Professor Wu Xinbo, Director of the CAS Fudan and Dean of the Institute of International Studies at Fudan University. Chinese Ambassador to the United States Xie Feng and U.S.-China Business Council President Sean Stein also delivered video messages.

Following the opening session, keynote speeches were delivered by Cui Tiankai, former Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and former Chinese Ambassador to the United States, and Susan Thornton, Senior Fellow at Yale Law School.
The forum brought together more than 30 experts, scholars, and business leaders from leading universities and think tanks—including Fudan University, Peking University, Renmin University of China, Stanford University, the University of Illinois, The Carter Center, and the Carnegie-Tsinghua Center for Global Policy. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on a range of key topics, including U.S.-China economic and trade relations, scientific and academic collaboration, regional security challenges and bilateral cooperation, and the management of strategic competition.

Professors Xin Qiang, Song Guoyou, and Zhao Minghao from the CAS Fudan also took part in the forum and contributed to the discussions.
