Prof. Wu Xinbo Attends the 12th World Peace Forum

2024-07-08

From July 5 to 7, 2024, the 12th World Peace Forum, hosted by Tsinghua University and co-organized by the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs, was held in Beijing. The forum, themed Improving Global Security Governance: Upholding Justice, Promoting Unity, and Seeking Cooperation, attracted approximately 400 participants, including former foreign dignitaries, ambassadors to China, and scholars from China and abroad. Chinese Vice President Han Zheng attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech, while former Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama and former French Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin gave keynote speeches.

Prof. Wu Xinbo, Dean of the Institute of International Studies and Director of the Center for American Studies at Fudan University, was invited to attend the forum and spoke at the special session on China-U.S. Relations after the San Francisco Summit. This session included notable political figures and scholars such as Susan Thornton, former Acting Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of State; Douglas Paal, former Senior Director for Asian Affairs at the U.S. National Security Council; and Prof. Da Wei, Director of the Center for International Security and Strategy at Tsinghua University. The four speakers provided an in-depth analysis of the evolution of China-U.S. relations since the San Francisco summit between the Chinese and U.S. presidents, explored ways to manage and improve China-U.S. relations, and engaged in lively interactions with the audience. During the forum, Professor Wu Xinbo also gave interviews to various domestic and international media outlets on the topics of the U.S. election and China-U.S. relations.
