Dr. Timothy P. Shriver is the chairman and chief executive officer of Special Olympics, Inc. He gave a speech at the Center for American Studies of Fudan University under the topic of "Special Olympic Inspires..." in the afternoon of March 3rd, 2004. The student audience responded with enthusiasm and applause to his speech. As Shanghai will host the Special Olympic World Games in 2007, the Fudan students also vowed to volunteer in the coming event. Dr. Shriver was on the delegation of the Special Olympics which visited China March 1st to 5th. He is the nephew of former President Kennedy as his mother is President Kennedy's younger sister. Vice President Yan Shuang of Fudan met with the delegation.
