The international conference on "Chinese Images of the Unites States" was sponsored by the Center of Strategic and International Studies (US), Chinese American Studies Institute(Beijing), and the Center of American Studies of Fudan University. It was attened by about 30 noted experts and scholars from home and broad, including John Hamre(director of CSIS),Derek Mitchell(CSIS),Carola McGiffert(CSIS),Terry Lautz(Luce Foundation), Wang Jisi(CASS),Ding Xinghao(Shanghai Institute of American Studies), Ni Shixiong and Sun Zhe(Center for American Studies), etc.
The topics discussed in the conference covered the role images in the 20th Century foreign policy, evolution of Chinese perceptions toward the United States, elite and popular views of the Unites States, as well as American views of China's images of the Unites States.
After the one-day conference, prof. Wang Jisi also gave an open lecture under the topic of "American Election and the Sino-US Relations" at night in the CAS.
