On March 23, 2009, “2008 Xie Xide American Studies Scholarship” awarding ceremony takes places in the Center. Professor Shen introduced the origin of the Xie Xide Scholarship, and some of Madame Xie Xide’s life stories. Distinguished guest, the former American Political Minister-Counselor in Beijing Jonathan M. Aloisi presented the awarding certificates for “2008 Xie Xide American Studies Scholarship” to Wei Yiwei (School of International Relations and Public Affairs, Master Candidate), Yu Haiyang (School of International Relations and Public Affairs, Master Candidate), Gan Junxian (School of International Relations and Public Affairs, Doctoral Candidate) and Gan Junxian (School of International Relations and Public Affairs, Doctoral Candidate).

   Afterwards, Mr. Aloisi gave a speech concerning American policies in "Afghanistan, Vietnam and China…".
