On July 6th, 2017, organized by Ministry of Education, a delegation consisting of more than 10 media organizations, including Xinhua News Agency, People’s Daily, Guangming Daily and China National Radio teamed up to visit Center for American Studies, Fudan University. In the lead up to the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the media delegation members conducted interviews on the changes in education and on the role of philosophy and social sciences in institutions of higher learning conducive to governance.Tan Fangzheng(Deputy Director, Department of social sciences, Ministry of Education), Chen Xing(Director of News Department, the General Office of Ministry of Education), Duan Hongbo(Associate Consultant, Department of Social Sciences, Ministry of Education) and Ge Hongbo(Deputy Director of Research Management Office for Humanities and Social Sciences, Fudan University) attended the event.

　　The media delegation visited Center for American Studies(CAS) of Fudan University on the morning led by Professor Wu Xinbo. In the meanwhile, Professor Wu demonstrated the developing course of CAS to the members of the delegation. Soon afterwards, Professor Wu Xinbo(Director of Center for American Studies, Fudan), Professor Huang Dan(Director of Center for Information and Communication Studies, Fudan) and Professor Chen Zhao(Executive Deputy Director of China Center for Economic Studies, Fudan) reported the development and state service of the Ministry of Education’s Key Centers for Humanities and Social Sciences in the past five years respectively. Professor Wu Xinbo proceeded from the working highlights of Center for American Studies at Fudan University which included serving the Conference on Confidence Building Measures in Asia, President Xi’s visit to the United States, keeping track of the trends of American Presidential Election and the tendency of internal affairs and diplomacy after the election, turning into the Sino-U.S. exchange highland, the achievements of building new types of think tanks in the multifaceted service of China’s development. Professor Huang Dan introduced the process of establishing the disciplines of urban communications and serving to promote urban development of Center for Information and Communication Studies, Fudan. Professor Chen Zhao made introductions of the accomplishments in the service of national economic development based on China's economic theory research of Center for Economic Studies, Fudan.

　　Mr. Tan Fangzheng made a summary speech and generally introduced the achievements of philosophy and social sciences in institutions of higher learning in the aspect of serving to advance national development and construction since the 18th National Congress of the CPC in 2012. With the vigorous support of the CPC Central Committee, the community of philosophy and social sciences in institutions of higher learning has made remarkable contributions, serving to pursue national strategies and promote regional development. Henceforth, the community of philosophy and social sciences in colleges and universities will adhere to inheritance and innovation, making greater contributions to advance the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics, showcase the image of China and enhance China's international influence.
