On August 27-28, 2017, researchers of Center for American Studies(CAS),Fudan University, including Professor Song Guoyou, Professor Wei Zongyou, Associate Professor Pan Yaling, Associate Professor Tu Yichao and Assistant Professor Wang Hao attended the 5th Session of National Youth Forum on American Studies held by Institute of American Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Over 30 young scholars from Institute of American Studies, China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations, Fudan University, Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renming University of China,China Foreign Affairs University, National Defence University of People's Liberation Army and Institute of American Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences attended the forum.
The theme of this year’s forum is The United States in the Trump Era and Sino-U.S. Relations: The Voice of the Youth.The delegates conducted in-depth discussions on such issues as U.S. policies and strategies on domestic, foreign affairs and Sino-U.S. Relations. Professor Wei Zongyou, Associate Professor Pan Yaling, Associate Professor Tu Yichao and Assistant Professor Wang Hao made speeches entitled America’s Cognition of "Belt and Road" Initiative and the Prospect of China-U.S. Cooperation, The Trend and Influence of American Political Culture in the Trump Era, Balance between Freedom and Security: Religion and U.S. Foreign Policy towards China’s Neighbouring Countries,From the Gilded Age to the New Gilded Age: The Evolution Logic and the Inner Paradox of American Politics. Professor Song Guoyou, Deputy Director of Center for American Studies, Fudan University commented on the speeches respectively.
National Youth Forum on American Studies is initiated by Center for American Studies, Fudan University and vigorously supported by Institute of American Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Institute of American Studies, China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations. Since 2013, five sessions of the forum have been held with great successes. Meanwhile, the forum has turned into an integral part of Collaborative Innovation Center for New Model of China-U.S. Major-Country Relationship.
