CAS Plenary Conventions over the Preliminary Span in the New Semester Convened at Fudan University

  On March 12th, 2021, the Center for American Studies (CAS) at Fudan University convened the plenary sessions over the preliminary span in the new semester, facilitated by Professor Wu Xinbo, Director of the Center for American Studies and Dean of the Institute of International Studies at Fudan University.

  Director Wu Xinbo, at the outset, briefed on and set forth the major periodic headway, summarized as well as commented on the academic, consultative decision-making yields delivered in concerted endeavors of the CAS research fellows over the past five years, underlying the fundamental quintessence inherent in the criteria of Key Research Institutes of Humanities and Social Sciences in University, relevant qualitative and quantitative data therein the Database Platform of Key Research Institutes of Humanities and Social Sciences in University correspondingly with detailed and phased layouts. Furthermore, Professor Wu proposed CAS should pertain to the diverse capacity-building and appraisal fundamentals called upon by the Ministry of Education with respect to constructing Key Research Institutes of Humanities and Social Sciences in University, continuously pursue the repository of scientific approaches, enhance research innovation strengths to harvest prominent academic outputs, embarking upon specific prospective orientations towards the 14th Five-Year Plan. Professor Wu proposed that the CAS community pertain to the diverse capacity-building and appraisal fundamentals called upon by the Ministry of Education with respect to constructing Key Research Institutes of Humanities and Social Sciences in University, continuously pursue the repository of scientific approaches, enhance research innovation strengths to harvest prominent academic outputs, expediting the compilation and publication of Strategic Report on Sino-U.S. Relations, Series on the United States and the World in the 21st Century while facilitating the constructive project of American Studies Database with a sound impetus, casting spotlight upon characteristics and prospects of China-U.S. relationship emerging against the backdrop of "new normality" on critical fronts while elaborating upon the specific routine maintenance and day-to-day managerial implementation within the spheres of operating and forging the construction of the Database Platform of Key Research Institutes of Humanities and Social Sciences in University correspondingly.

  Professor Wu emphatically highlighted the specific essentials in accordance with the standards of building prestigious think tanks nationwide, attaining the objectives of timeline to fulfill the capacity-building goals of Key Research Institutes of Humanities and Social Sciences in University. To boost delivery platforms, exert influence, consolidate academic researches and policy-making advisory service of the think tank, the whole community would instill momentum into the orientation of new-type specialized think tanks with horizon targets forward.

  In the ensuing section, the CAS researchers presented the academic research and work plans respectively, conducted a broad exchange of views and exploration into such issues as development planning, research characteristics and academic directions, conveyed  the resolution to accomplish the nodal targets, steadily intensify the all-round development, proactively deepen international collaboration and exchanges, consolidate academic researches and policy-making advisory service of the think tank to jointly prompt the construction of top university-affiliated think tanks with ever-growing impact driven by originality, expertise and competence in full swing.
