On July 14, 2023, the 13th conference on "U.S. Strategic Directions and Sino-U.S. Relations" was held at the Center for American Studies (CAS) at Fudan University. Nearly 30 experts and scholars in the field of American Studies from institutions such as Fudan University’s Institute of International Studies, Peking University, China’s Academy of Military Sciences, the Shanghai Institute of International Studies, Nanjing University, China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations, Shanghai International Studies University, Beijing Foreign Studies University, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Wuhan University, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Renmin University, Tsinghua University, and Fudan University attended the seminar.
At the seminar, Li Fan, the Deputy Director-General of the Department of Policy Planning of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, delivered a keynote report on "The International Situations and Diplomatic Work," sparking lively discussions among the participating experts on related issues.
The seminar focused on three major topics: "Analysis and Judgment of the Current Domestic Situation in the United States," "Evaluation of the Biden Administration's China Policy," and "Prospects for Sino-US Relations." The experts and scholars concentrated on the latest developments in the U.S.'s domestic political and economic landscape, provided a multi-dimensional analysis of the Biden administration's policy towards China, and from both strategic and tactical levels, they dissected the current state and future of Sino-U.S. relations. The one-day seminar featured insightful presentations and vigorous discussions that facilitated profound exchanges and significant results.
The "U.S. Strategic Directions and Sino-U.S. Relations" Conference is an annual academic event hosted by the CAS. It has been successfully held for thirteen years since 2006. It has become an important academic platform for domestic experts and scholars engaged in the study of American issues to exchange and discuss the strategic dynamics of the United States and Sino-U.S. relations.
