Introduction
This chapter explores main security challenges China faces in the IndoPacific in the era of China-US competition. First, the chapter examinesthe security landscape in the Indo-Pacific defined by growing China-UScompetition in the diplomatic, economic, technology, and security areasSecond, it examines the security challenge of Taiwan to China in the nearfuture, given political developments in Taiwan, China's vow to deal withany contingency by all means, and the emerging US policy changes in itsinteractions with Taiwan. Third, it addresses the South China Sea issueand its potential challenge to China's security, Fourth, it analyzes ChinaIndia border disputes and potential damage to China-India bilateralrelations and China's security, Lastly, it assesses the security situation onthe Korean Peninsula and its impact on China, Based on the aboveanalysis, the chapter concludes with some policy suggestions.China's security landscape in the Indo-Pacific has witnessed growingchallenges in the era of deepening China-US strategic competition.
